About Jen

In July 2010, a five-week bride advising* gig fell into my lap. I hadn't planned any weddings besides my own, and I fell in love with the process all over again. Through that experience, I found what I believe to be an exciting, fast-growing niche in the wedding market, I decided to start my own company: AnyWay Weddings. This blog will chronicle my journey, while offering useful tips, inspiration, and insight - all in easily digestible, bite-size nuggets of goodness to enlighten and brighten your day.

But enough about the blog. Briefly, about me:

I'm a graduate of Brown University and have an MBA from the University of Cambridge. I recently landed back in NYC after living in London for two and a half really fun years. My hubby and I got hitched in September 2009 - and I planned the whole wedding during my year-long MBA program! While some people claim to go a little bit crazy planning their weddings, my experience was the opposite. Planning my wedding kept me sane during an otherwise excruciatingly intense year spent slaving over balance sheets and case studies. If I needed a little mental break during one of our four-hour lectures, I'd browse online photo galleries of bridal bouquets. Planning my wedding was a joy that was surpassed only by the day itself.

*Why do I use the term "bride advising" instead of "wedding planning"?

I'm so glad you asked! I will go into this in more depth in the blog and on my soon-to-be-launched website, but to quell your curiosity for now... There are oodles of creative, intelligent, talented wedding planners out there. I want to distinguish myself from the masses, as I have something different to offer.

What is my offer?

I am a people person. I love meeting and getting to know people. Having the opportunity to work with brides at such an exciting time in their lives is simply the best.

I am a budding yenta. I love building professional relationships and making the right match between a bride and her vendors. Bride-vendor matchmaking is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

I am rather ridiculously hyper-organized and eager to put these perfectionist skills to use for other people. As soon as I finish hanging my husband's polo shirts in rainbow color order.

I can do math. Which is to say, I am on top of budgets, gratuities, and all that sort of boring/icky/awkward (choose your adjective) stuff so you don't have to be.

I am Gumby for Brides. You will find no canned packages on my website. No silver, gold, or platinum levels of service. I tailor my work and personalize my tools for each and every bride.

I will not tell you what to do. I will work with you to help you define your vision for your day. Often, brides don't even realize what their true priorities are until they can talk through their vision. So while I won't be whipping up any David Tutera-style extravaganzas myself (although I do love them and cry at the end of every episode of his amazing show), what I will do is help you find the right people so that together, we will create your day, your way.
